Vintage Ganesh Toran Wall Hanging With Grey And Red Edging

A traditional vintage Ganesh door hanging, providing an auspicious welcome and the blessings of Ganesh, the elephant-headed God of good fortune and happiness. He is flanked by Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth standing in a lotus blossom. It is decorated with birds, cows, rabbits, trees with a beautiful flower border with shisha mirror work and in addition there are Hindu symbols of peace. It has been beautifully hand-embroidered with enormous time and care. It has a grey trim with a red pleated frill on the inner edge. It has 5 cotton hanging loops. Made by the farming (Kanbi) communities of Saurashtra. c1960.
