Vintage Chakla On Green Silk With Antique Brocade Border

A beautiful vintage Chalka in a traditional butti flower and bird design, with a nineteenth century silk brocade border decorated with couched metal thread. It has been hand embroidered, using orange and deep red silk on a pale green silk background. The colours co-ordinate perfectly with the border. It is edged and backed at a later date in pale brown cotton. The embroidery and silk background show some signs of use and age. Saurashtra, c1920.
