Vintage Chakla with Flying Birds on Green Silk

A unusual vintage Chalka with a simple design featuring four flying birds, bordered in patchworked silk and brocade. It has been embroidered with silk thread, on green silk. This piece has a small button in one corner, which would have been used, with three of the four corner loops, to create an envelope bag for storing small items. It is mounted on red cotton. There are a few faint ink spots and some aging to the border but the centrepiece remains in perfect condition. Saurashtra, c1950.
